As more home networks are installed, greater pressure will be placed on telephone number services agencies.  It may become necessary to begin dialing area codes for local phone calls when all numbers in a single area code have been assigned.  In the future, it may be possible that technology applications like home networks will use separate exchanges for system to system (no human speech) communications.
