Industry Description

There are different types of emergency monitoring systems.  Several examples are ongoing health and vitals monitoring; hospice and end-of-life monitoring; high water or flooding monitoring; and high or low temperature monitoring (loss of home heating in wintertime, loss of ventilation fans or air conditioning during summertime, extreme weather conditions, exterior air and wind readings for brush and forest fire areas).

In the future, these systems may be compatible with home networks.  The functionality of each may be local with audible alarms and printouts, or remote for reporting systems status to physicians, hospitals, or an emergency monitoring center.  Whatever the respective functions are, there will be requirements for correct location, range of service for wireless components, and appropriate connectivity and communications protocols.
