THNC is working to maintain our nonprofit status. On August 15, 2013, Forms 8734 and 8940 were filed with a request that THNC’s 501(c)(3) be reinstated. Our new website provides us with functional ways to serve America, initially through creation of our first three service databases. This means that grant proposals request funding only for expenses related to populating these service databases. No funding is required for website expenses.
Our 501(c)(3) status remains active, and THNC maintains its private foundation status with the IRS. THNC is also classified under IRS sections 509(a)(1) and 170(b)(1)(A)(vi).
a) Section 509(a)(1) primarily includes churches, schools, hospitals, and other organizations that receive their public support primarily from gifts, grants and contributions from a broad group of people;
b) Section 170(b)(1)(A)(vi) applies if the publicly supported organization (1) normally receives at least one-third of its total support from government and/or from public contributions; or (2) it normally receives at least 10 percent of its total support from government and/or from public contributions, and meets a “facts and circumstances” test based on five “public support factors.”
Although THNC is not a library organization, it will involve cataloging of a very large amount of information about technology and networks in the home. Also involved are screening and evaluation, cross referencing, updating, and many other aspects of data filing and retrieval usually associated with libraries.
THNC headquarters is in the Central Ohio area. We believe that THNC may grow to have hundreds of associates using state of the art computer and telephone networking capabilities. With the creation of subsidiary organizations, local centers, and multilingual services, this could grow to thousands of THNC associates worldwide.
