Traditional potable water systems in homes are efficient and effective.  Water at the desired temperature is delivered to each appliance in the quantity needed.  Home networks will bring new possibilities such as the ability to switch off water flow if flooding or a substantial drop in pressure is detected for some period of time (conditions that might be caused by a broken pipe).  By turning off water flow and preventing extensive flooding damage, insurance premiums may be lowered.
