Industry Description

Professionals that work in the HVAC industry may tell you about the art of designing and properly installing ducting.   From extended plenums attached to a furnace, to the placement of take-offs going to each room, to the size of ducts, to the size and type of floor registers and wall grates — all of this involves science, experience, and some guesswork to produce the best possible combination of components.

Ducts may composed of galvanized sheet metal, fiberglass duct board, and other materials.  Zone controls may be involved.  Over-sized ducts and registers may reduce air noise in each room and provide more options for adjusting the volume of heated or conditioned are to each space in the home.
