Home networks bring the potential of intelligent monitoring to families and their homes.  Instead of simple intrusion alarms, home networks may participate in the analysis of an intrusion.  Digital images might be analyzed in real time so that central station monitoring offices and home owners away from their homes may have more than a passive monitor’s images to interpret.  Voice recognition of those entering the home would save countless false alarms.  Stress patterns in speech or the use of code words could alert the home network to burglars using family members as hostages in forced entry situations.
