Industry Description

In almost every home, there is an air handling system referred to as Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC).  This involves elements of both science and art and has been designed to improve levels of comfort throughout living spaces.

Every HVAC installation begins with heat gain and heat loss calculations needed to determine the correct sizes of heating and air conditioning equipment.  Also involved are the design of ducting passageways; forced air furnaces or heat pumps; zoned controls (for directing heating and cooling to zoned spaces); central air conditioning units, evaporator coils, electrical power, condensate handling, and controls; and digital thermostats for controlling temperate air throughout the home.

And, of course, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, static air filters, electrostatic air cleaners, register sizing and placement, cold air returns, high-efficiency regenerative furnaces, and high-efficiency compressors.

In the future, home networks may raise the performance of HVAC to higher levels of performance by coordinating and balancing performance of entire systems.
