In the future, computer component manufacturers may produce entire lines of integrated chips and plug-in boards designed exclusively for home network applications.  Companies offering complete home networks may also design and produce CPU (central processing unit) boards with a line of peripheral plug-in boards and devices the home owner could use to customize their network. 

These ideas might lead to fierce competition, increased manufacturing efficiency, lowering of costs, and even greater numbers of installed home networks.  Easily upgradeable versions of voice recognition, translation provisions, and lots of capabilities once considered too difficult and expensive may become affordable readily available.
