Industry Description

Education and understanding of advanced technology will be an ongoing challenge.  If most people are to benefit from advanced technology, ways must be found to increase levels of comfort among people that are – or choose to be – technically inept.  So the concept of Nontechnical Integration is an educational approach to spanning the gap between a) the technical level on which people choose to live their lives, and b) the technical capabilities of home network systems and society as a whole.

In the future, the objectives may be to maximize home network benefits to everyone in the home while minimizing the stress caused by the “man-machine” interface.  Research may be ongoing to discover ever more efficient ways of overcoming this element of the “Digital Divide”.  A goal may be to encourage technology to “step out of the way”.  It may be possible for people to enjoy the positive results of the use of technology without the familiar battle of trying to master the use of the underlying technology itself.
