A traditional HVAC design was centered on basic limitations.  A thermal control called for heat or cool, and the system began to operate.  When the system had caused the interior space to reach the desired condition, the system shut down until it was called upon again.  

Digital thermostats changed these limitations by making every day different.  Although HVAC companies will continue to provide services for design, specification, installation, and integration of air handling systems, new digital components to extend these capabilities. 

An intelligent home network will know when there is a holiday or days of vacation.  Diagnostic capabilities within the furnace or compressor will detect problems before the HVAC system stops working.  High efficiency component designs may report their status thus improving overall energy consumption in the home.  These ideas for feedback may affect the ways that new systems are specified.  What people expect from HVAC may be dramatically changed.
