Industry Description

Every traditional appliance in homes today serves a specific purpose.  In the future, by adding peripheral devices, these appliances may become responsible parts of home network systems.  Such peripheral devices may be add-ons or integral parts for monitoring the performance of each appliance.

Here are several examples.  Heat sensors on a clothes drier can detect failed heating elements and clogged vent ducts.  Electrical current sensors in motors can detect failed bearings or a jammed armature.  Water flow sensors can detect broken pipes.  Heat rise detectors can detect abnormally high attic temperatures.  Digital detection software for use with cameras and microphones can detect abnormal activity in and around a home.
